Council members can be paid a daily amount equal to the annual pay for Executive Schedule Level IV (see section 5315 of title 5) for each day they actually do Council work, including travel time. They can also get travel expenses and per diem the same way intermittent government workers do (see section 5703 of title 5). If a member is a full-time U.S. officer or employee or a Member of Congress, they cannot receive extra pay for serving on the Council.
