A veteran or current member who is eligible for burial at Arlington National Cemetery can be given only one gravesite. The Secretary of the Army can make an exception and allow more than one gravesite when the Secretary thinks it is appropriate. A gravesite at Arlington cannot be reserved for a person before that person dies. The President can make an exception to allow a pre-death reservation. If the President does this, the President must notify the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, the Senate Committee on Armed Services, the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, and the House Committee on Armed Services.
