Title 38 › Part PART III— - READJUSTMENT AND RELATED BENEFITS › Chapter CHAPTER 35— - SURVIVORS’ AND DEPENDENTS’ EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER VII— - PHILIPPINE COMMONWEALTH ARMY AND PHILIPPINE SCOUTS › § 3565
Children of Commonwealth Army veterans and "New" Philippine Scouts are treated as eligible if their parent died or became disabled because of their service, under the service rules in section 3566. Education benefits from this chapter and chapter 36 apply to them, but payments under sections 3532 and 3542 are paid at $0.50 for each dollar, and any mention of a State approving agency means the Secretary. If someone is eligible only because of the rule above and was over 17 but under 23 on September 30, 1966, their benefit period in section 3512 does not end until the five-year period starting September 30, 1966 ends.
