The Architect of the Capitol must lease the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building and related improvements under an agreement with the builder chosen to construct it. The lease can be no longer than 30 years. Rent per square foot for usable space must be in the federal government’s best interest and must at least cover the amount needed to pay off development costs for squares 721 and 722 over the lease. The Architect may make or sublease space under section 6506 and must include any other terms needed to meet the chapter’s goals. Lease payments can only be committed each year and must come from the account in section 6507.
