Title 40 › Subtitle SUBTITLE II— - PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND WORKS › Part PART C— - FEDERAL BUILDING COMPLEXES › Chapter CHAPTER 65— - THURGOOD MARSHALL FEDERAL JUDICIARY BUILDING › § 6505
The Architect of the Capitol must keep the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building, its systems, and the grounds in good working order. The Architect must care for the building’s structure and mechanical needs just like the Supreme Court Building is cared for under section 6111, and must do other work needed to run and maintain the building. The United States Capitol Police are in charge of outside security for the building and related improvements. They can patrol inside and outside and can arrest people for violations of federal, state, or District of Columbia laws or rules. This does not change the Marshal of the Supreme Court’s duty to protect justices and Supreme Court staff who use the building. The Architect must transfer money from the account named in section 6507 to pay the Capitol Police for outside security. The Capitol Police may accept those funds, and the money will be credited to their security appropriation.
