Papa Ola Lokahi must run, carry out, and update the comprehensive health care master plan created under section 11703. It must provide training for the people named in section 11705(c)(1)(B). It must study and track the illnesses most common among Native Hawaiians, including behavioral, biomedical, epidemiological, and health services research. It must also make an action plan that shows what each member organization will do. Papa Ola Lokahi can accept special project money for research or health programs. It must act as a central place to collect and keep Native Hawaiian health data, share information about diseases, funding, research, and publications, and help researchers work together. It must coordinate and support Native Hawaiian health programs, provide statewide technical help and training, and can enter agreements or memorandums of understanding with agencies or groups that can offer resources or services.
