Summary

The Attorney General must issue accessible-format rules within 1 year after July 26, 1990 to put this part into effect, but those rules must not cover things the Secretary of Transportation controls under sections 12143, 12149, and 12164. The rules must follow this chapter and the coordination rules in part 41 of title 28 (Jan 13, 1978) under section 794 of title 29; for "program accessibility," "existing facilities," and "communications" they must follow part 39 of title 28 (also under section 794). The rules must set standards for the facilities and vehicles covered by this part, excluding items in part B, and those standards must match the minimum guidelines the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board issued under section 12204(a).
