Programs must do work on public lands or Indian lands, or give a clear public benefit, to get a grant. When the Corporation reviews grant applications for work on public or Indian lands, it must consult with the Secretary of the Interior. Any program that uses these grants to conserve, restore, or improve public or Indian lands must follow the laws, policies, and the management plans that apply to those lands. State land or water conservation programs run under federal authority are encouraged to use the services available under this part.
