Summary

The Postmaster General must coordinate the Postal Service’s buying, siting, fueling, and upkeep of alternative-fuel vehicles with federal, state, and local programs. The Postmaster General must regularly share information about these programs with the Secretary, the Administrator of General Services, and other federal agency heads. When buying or placing these vehicles, six factors must be considered, including refueling and repair availability, how much emissions are reduced, whether the vehicle will be used in a Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 nonattainment area, operational needs, and the vehicle’s effect on reducing oil use.
