Title 42 › Chapter CHAPTER 134— - ENERGY POLICY › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER III— - AVAILABILITY AND USE OF REPLACEMENT FUELS, ALTERNATIVE FUELS, AND ALTERNATIVE FUELED PRIVATE VEHICLES › § 13256
The Secretary must prepare and send a technical and policy analysis to the President and Congress by March 1, 1995, and again by March 1, 1997. The Secretary must use the Energy Information Administration and other DOE offices as needed. The analysis must use the best available data under section 13253 and experience under this subchapter and other laws. It must evaluate progress toward the goals in section 13252(b)(2) as changed by section 13254, how replacement fuels and alternative fueled vehicles can cut U.S. oil imports to meet those goals, and the actual and possible supply of domestic replacement fuels and of dedicated and dual-fueled vehicles. Before sending the analysis, the Secretary must publish a proposed version in the Federal Register and collect public comments. Those comments must be kept for use in later rulemaking under section 13257.
