Within 180 days after December 19, 2007, the Federal Director, working with the Commercial Director, must set up a group called the Green Building Advisory Committee. The group must include people from each agency named in section 17081(e) and other agencies or groups the Federal Director chooses. It must have at least one member from six areas (state/local green programs; independent green building groups; building professionals like architects, suppliers, and contractors; security advisers for national security, disasters, and emergencies; public transportation experts; and environmental health experts, including children’s health). No more than 15 non‑Federal members are allowed. The Federal Director must set a regular meeting schedule. The committee gives advice and expertise to the Federal Director to help carry out duties under this part, including recommendations on federal activities under sections 434 through 436 when a majority agrees. The committee is not covered by section 1013 of title 5.
