The Commission can set up and join programs with colleges and universities for research, mentoring, teaching, and training. These programs should help schools teach and train students, including current or future Commission employees, and support research in science, engineering, law, or any other field the Commission says is important. Hispanic-serving institution — meaning given in 20 U.S.C. 1101a(a). Historically Black college or university — meaning “part B institution” in 20 U.S.C. 1061. Tribal college — meaning “tribally controlled college or university” in 25 U.S.C. 1801(a).
