The Secretary of Health and Human Services must set up a program to share information and teach people about muscular dystrophy. The program must cover new ways to diagnose and treat the condition and must offer training and continuing education for scientists, doctors, medical students, and other health care providers. The Secretary may give stipends to health professionals who are enrolled in those training programs. The Secretary may work with muscular dystrophy patient leaders and professional groups to create and update care guidance for children and adults, including acute care, for Duchenne‑Becker and other forms. The Secretary may use findings from the national transitions survey when updating guidance, share the guidance widely, and Congress may provide the money needed to run the program.
