The Secretary must create a grant program to train health care workers so they can give better prenatal, labor, birth, and postpartum care to racial and ethnic minority patients, including training about how perceptions and biases affect care. Eligible applicants are accredited allopathic (MD) and osteopathic (DO) medical schools, nursing schools, and other health professional training programs. Applicants must apply when and how the Secretary requires. Grantees must send regular reports on their work and any effects on patient outcomes. By September 30, 2026, the Secretary must report to Congress on the grants and any best practices found. The Secretary may identify and share best practices. The law authorizes $5,000,000 for each fiscal year 2023 through 2027 to carry out the program.
