Title 42 › Chapter CHAPTER 61— - UNIFORM RELOCATION ASSISTANCE AND REAL PROPERTY ACQUISITION POLICIES FOR FEDERAL AND FEDERALLY ASSISTED PROGRAMS › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER II— - UNIFORM RELOCATION ASSISTANCE › § 4634

Summary

Federal agencies that pay for or run relocation and property acquisition work must have trained staff and enough resources to manage those programs under this chapter. Not later than 1 year after July 6, 2012, each such agency (except the lead agency) must sign a memorandum of understanding with the lead agency. The MOU must set up regular training (which can include staff from agencies getting Federal financial help), describe how the lead agency will help coordinate compliance for projects, and explain who will pay for training and coordination. For the fiscal year that begins 1 year after July 6, 2012, and each fiscal year thereafter, each non‑lead agency must send the lead agency the funds needed for those activities, but not less than $35,000 each year. Those costs must be counted as part of the cost of programs or projects that displace people or acquire property.
