The Secretary can use needed funds from a State’s allotment to help the State’s lead agency with five kinds of support. These cover setting up and running a peer review process and an information clearinghouse; paying for a yearly symposium about State system changes from community-based, prevention-focused programs that help families and prevent child abuse and neglect; building and running a computer communication system between lead agencies; and providing State-to-State technical help through twice-yearly conferences.
