Summary

The Secretary must offer onsite technical assessments, when a manufacturer asks, through the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. The checks must find ways to save energy in industrial and shared systems, cut pollution and waste, use water better, conserve resources, and meet other Secretary‑chosen goals. To put recommendations into action and speed new technologies, the Secretary must work with four partners (three DOE offices and private/other agencies, including NIST) and run a joint industry‑government program to research and demonstrate sustainable manufacturing technologies.
