Title 42 › Chapter CHAPTER 82— - SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER I— - GENERAL PROVISIONS › § 6904

Last updated Apr 6, 2026|Official source

Summary

Allows states to have interstate agencies or regions do the work the states would do, if the states set them up and the Administrator approves them. Any action a Governor must take about a regional matter must be taken by each state’s Governor for the part of the region inside that state. Congress permits two or more states to make agreements or compacts, as long as they don’t conflict with U.S. law or treaties, to cooperate on managing solid or hazardous waste and to create agencies to carry out those agreements.
