Government departments ordering printing and supplies must promptly pay by check to the Director of the Government Publishing Office when the Director asks in writing, either before the work starts or after it is finished. If paid in advance, costs are settled monthly, quarterly, or as the Director and department agree, and the Director’s bills do not need prior audit or certification.
