Recreational boat makers covered by this law must keep records and file reports, and give the Secretary any information needed to show they are following the rules. If an officer, employee, or agent the Secretary authorizes asks, the maker must allow inspections of factories or other facilities and let them see related records at reasonable times. Information that is a trade secret or otherwise protected from public release is kept confidential. If the Secretary agrees, that information can be shared with other officials who need it to enforce the law or used in a legal case or hearing under the law.
