Title 5 › Part PART I— - THE AGENCIES GENERALLY › Chapter CHAPTER 4— - INSPECTORS GENERAL › § 414
Even if section 406(a)(7) and (8) say something else, only the Inspector General of the Corporation for National and Community Service may hire and set pay for the IG’s officers and employees under section 195(b) of the National and Community Service Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C. 12651f(b)). The Inspector General also alone may hire and pay temporary or part‑time experts and consultants under section 3109(b) of this title. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) must send any report they send to Congress under section 405(b) or 405(c) to the Board of Directors at the same time. When the CEO sends a report under section 405(c) to the Board, the CEO must also send any audit report described in the statement required by section 405(c)(4). Those audit reports must be placed on the agenda for the Board’s next scheduled meeting, and the CEO must attend that meeting to discuss them. If the Inspector General reports a problem, abuse, or deficiency to the CEO under section 405(e), the CEO must report that same problem to the Board by that date.
