Agency heads may give covered employees free housing and meals while the employee is temporarily assigned to support a contingency operation. They may also provide free storage or pay to store one personal motor vehicle owned or leased by the employee or a dependent during that temporary assignment. Not more than one motor vehicle may be covered at any given time. Covered employee = a person who works for an Executive agency or a military department (not a government-controlled corporation) and is on a temporary change of station supporting a contingency operation. Temporary change of station = an assignment from the employee’s official duty station to a temporary duty station that is eligible for expenses under section 5737. Contingency operation = has the meaning given in 10 U.S.C. 1482a(c). These benefits are in addition to any other benefits the employee already gets.
