Defines key words used in the chapter. Employee is the person named in section 8901(1) and employees of the District of Columbia courts. Annuitant, member of family, and dependent use the meanings in paragraphs (3), (5), and (9) of section 8901. Eligible individual is anyone listed in paragraph (1), (2), or (8), whether or not they are enrolled in a chapter 89 health plan. Office means the Office of Personnel Management. Qualified company is a company, consortium, or employee organization under section 8901(8) that offers indemnity, PPO, HMO, or discount dental plans, includes subsidiaries and consortium members, and is licensed where required. Employee organization is a national or open-to-all agency employee group eligible for chapter 89 enrollment. State includes the District of Columbia. Covered TRICARE-eligible individual is someone entitled to dental care under title 10, chapter 55, section 1076c whom the Secretary of Defense designates eligible for this chapter.
