Title 5 › Part PART III— - EMPLOYEES › Subpart Subpart G— - Insurance and Annuities › Chapter CHAPTER 89B— - ENHANCED VISION BENEFITS › § 8986
An eligible person can sign up for vision benefits as self-only, self plus one, or self and family. If both spouses could enroll, only one of them may choose self plus one or family. You cannot be enrolled twice (for yourself and also as a family member). The agency in charge will make rules about how to enroll and how to change your level of coverage. The rules must let people cancel or move their enrollment before a contract term that changes rates or benefits, adds a new plan, or ends a plan, and at other times the agency allows. If you transfer to a new plan, that plan’s waiting periods apply. If an employee or a covered TRICARE-eligible person is furloughed or required to work without pay because of a lapse in appropriations, their vision coverage stays in effect and cannot be ended for missed payments caused by that lapse.
