Title 50 › Chapter CHAPTER 51— - WAR CLAIMS › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER I— - TITLE I OF WAR CLAIMS ACT OF 1948 › § 4112
A federal commission can take and decide claims for money from U.S. citizens who served in an allied nation's military in World War II and were held as prisoners of war after December 7, 1941. Payments must follow the rates and rules in section 4105(b) and paragraphs (2) and (3) of section 4105(d). Any amount already paid by another government for the same detention will be subtracted. If the claimant died, payment may go to the people listed in paragraph (4) of section 4105(d). Claims had to be filed within one year after August 31, 1954. Approved claims are sent to the Secretary of the Treasury to be paid from the War Claims Fund under section 4110.
