Title 54 › Subtitle Subtitle III— - National Preservation Programs › Chapter CHAPTER 3027— - HISTORIC PRESERVATION PROGRAMS AND AUTHORITIES FOR INDIAN TRIBES AND NATIVE HAWAIIAN ORGANIZATIONS › § 302706
Allows places that are important to the religion or culture of an Indian tribe or a Native Hawaiian organization to be judged eligible for the National Register. When a federal agency is doing work under section 306108, it must talk with the tribe or Native Hawaiian group that cares about the place. For Hawaii, the State Historic Preservation Officer must consult with Native Hawaiian organizations when thinking about nominating a place, when making the cultural part of a preservation plan, and must make a written agreement with them to assess and carry out that cultural work under section 302303.
