National Infrastructure Simulation and Analysis Center — the center set up under section 5195c(d) of title 42. Creates the National Infrastructure Simulation and Analysis Center in the Department of Homeland Security as a national expert center to help protect and keep vital infrastructure working. The Center must support counterterrorism, threat and risk work, and responses to natural, terrorist, or other man-made disasters. It must use modeling, simulation, and analysis of infrastructure systems and assets to improve preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation. Federal agencies with critical infrastructure duties under Homeland Security Presidential Directive 7 (or its replacement) must make a formal working relationship, including information sharing, with the Center through the Department so they can use the Center’s vulnerability and consequence analysis and other tools for real-time response. Modeling and analysis must be made available to relevant federal agencies.
