As soon as possible after each calendar year ends, the Secretary must pay each county where the Secretary holds land 25 percent of the net income from using that land during that year. If the land is in more than one county, the money is split fairly among them. Counties must use the payments for schools, for roads, or for both. Money from selling land is not included.
