Title 7 › Chapter CHAPTER 35A— - PRICE SUPPORT OF AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER III— - NONBASIC AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES › § 1448
The Secretary must, as much as possible, offer price support to farmers who grow storable nonbasic commodities and who follow any marketing program for those commodities. Support should not be limited only to commodities that have a marketing quota, agreement, or order. Support cannot be more than 90% of the commodity’s parity price. The minimum support depends on the supply percentage at the start of the marketing year: if supply is not more than 102 → at least 90%; more than 102 but not more than 104 → 89%; >104–106 → 88%; >106–108 → 87%; >108–110 → 86%; >110–112 → 85%; >112–114 → 84%; >114–116 → 83%; >116–118 → 82%; >118–120 → 81%; >120–122 → 80%; >122–124 → 79%; >124–126 → 78%; >126–128 → 77%; >128–130 → 76%; more than 130 → 75%. The Secretary may set support lower than these minimums if money is short and the factors in section 1421(b) are considered.
