Title 7 › Chapter CHAPTER 50— - AGRICULTURAL CREDIT › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER IV— - ADMINISTRATIVE PROVISIONS › § 1982
Stops loan payments and interest for certain direct loans while a borrower is called up for military service. A “mobilized military reservist” means someone on active duty under section 688, 12301(a), 12301(g), 12302, 12304, 12306, or 12406, or chapter 13 of title 10, or a National Guard member on full‑time duty as defined in section 101(d)(5) called under section 502(f) of title 32 for more than 30 consecutive days to respond to a presidential national emergency with Federal funds. Interest payments during that mobilization are canceled. Any principal payments due while or after mobilization are postponed for the same length of time the person is mobilized. No interest accrues on the loan during mobilization. Getting this help will not make the borrower count as delinquent or as having received debt forgiveness for purposes of applying for other direct or guaranteed loans under this chapter, notwithstanding section 2008h.
