§2009aa–2 Economic and community development grants

Title 7 › Chapter CHAPTER 50— - AGRICULTURAL CREDIT › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER VI— - DELTA REGIONAL AUTHORITY › § 2009aa–2

Last updated Apr 6, 2026|Official source

Summary

The Authority can approve grants to States, Indian Tribes, and public or nonprofit groups for five types of projects: building regional transportation (but only State, Tribal, or local governments can get transportation grants), training workers and supporting business growth (especially small businesses and entrepreneurs), helping very distressed areas pay for basic public services, equipping industrial parks and similar facilities in those areas, and other projects that meet the subchapter’s goals. Grant money may come from appropriations, from other Federal grant programs, or from any other source. Federal funds should be used in this priority order: (1) basic public infrastructure in distressed counties and isolated distressed areas, (2) transportation to help regional economic development, (3) business development with an emphasis on entrepreneurship, and (4) job training or work-related education using existing public schools in the region.
