The Secretary must hold a vote of milk producers within the 60 days before September 30, 1985. Voters are producers who sold milk during a representative period the Secretary sets. The order stays only if a majority of producers voting approve it; if a majority does not approve, the Secretary must stop collecting assessments within six months and end the order as soon as possible. The Board must repay the Department for costs of running any referendum under this law, but not for government employees’ salaries.
