Title 7 › Chapter CHAPTER 77— - HONEY RESEARCH, PROMOTION, AND CONSUMER INFORMATION › § 4601
Creates a national program, paid for by a fee, to help the U.S. honey industry with promotion, research, consumer education, and sharing industry information. Congress found that many small and medium honey producers work in every state, that honey moves across state and country borders, and that large amounts of low-cost imported honey have replaced some U.S. honey. The law says markets must be kept and grown, purity rules and research on pests, diseases, cost efficiency, and product quality are important, and individual producers or handlers cannot afford to run these efforts alone. The program must strengthen and expand domestic and foreign markets, make the industry more competitive and efficient, and support research to fight pests and disease. It cannot be used to help one company gain market share or to replace brand advertising. It also does not stop the sale of different honey grades, control how much honey is made, limit anyone’s right to produce honey, or block foreign honey from entering the market.
