§4914 Amendment procedure

Summary

The Secretary must publish any proposed changes to a plan for public comment and hold a referendum under section 4912 before making the change. Two changes from the Watermelon Research and Promotion Improvement Act of 1993 must be voted on separately by line item before the Secretary can alter the plan that was in effect the day before December 14, 1993. Those are removing the assessment refund (section 7) and making importers follow the plan (section 8). When the vote is about adding importers, voters must include the producers, handlers, and importers who would be covered if the change passed.
