Title 7 › Chapter CHAPTER 90— - MUSHROOM PROMOTION, RESEARCH, AND CONSUMER INFORMATION › § 6101
Creates a funded national program to promote mushrooms, paid for by fees on mushrooms produced in the United States or imported, and to support ongoing research and information for consumers and the mushroom industry. Congress says mushrooms are a valuable food. They are grown by hundreds of producers, sold through thousands of outlets, and eaten by millions here and abroad. Mushroom growing uses farm byproducts well. To keep these benefits, mushrooms must be good quality, easy to get, handled right, and sold efficiently. Protecting and growing markets helps producers and the farm economy. Many mushrooms cross state or national borders, and those that do not still affect interstate trade. The law does not let the program limit how much anyone may produce.
