The Bureau of Land Management is rolling out a new plan to manage barred owls in western Oregon to help protect the northern spotted owl. Starting now, BLM will carry out this strategy on its lands, following rules set by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This means some barred owls may be controlled to give the spotted owls a better chance to thrive, with actions already approved and ready to go.
