Tribal leaders invited to join CIIHE TAC

The Office of Minority Health (OMH) is accepting nominations for delegates to the Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity Tribal Advisory Committee (CIIHE TAC). The committee has 16 delegate positions (one from each of the 12 Indian Health Service areas plus four National At‑Large members) and will advise OMH on research, education, service, and policy development to improve health for American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities.

Who is eligible to serve as a delegate

CIIHE TAC delegates must be elected Tribal officials from federally recognized Tribes acting in their official capacity, or individuals designated by an elected Tribal official with authority to act for the Tribe; no federal government employees may serve. OMH gives priority in selection order to Tribal President/Chairperson/Governor, then Vice‑President/Vice‑Chairperson/Lt. Governor, then other elected or appointed Tribal officials, and then designated Tribal officials.

Nomination rules, timeline, and selection process

Nominations must be submitted by e‑mail to [email protected] with subject line "CIIHE TAC Nomination" and should be on Tribal letterhead signed by an elected Tribal leader. Required nomination details include nominee name, official title, tribe, election date and term length, contact information, relevant expertise, and nominator contact info. OMH requests nomination letters by January 17, 2024, will continue to accept nominations until positions are filled, and will notify nominees of selection status in February 2024; OMH is responsible for final selection.
