If you are a private entity or state agency wanting to provide official grain inspection and weighing services in the Evansville, Indiana area, you can apply between March 1, 2025 and March 31, 2025. The current designation for Ohio Valley Grain Inspection ends July 31, 2025, and a new designation in that area will occur no sooner than August 1, 2025.
Fargo Area Designation Open
If you are a private entity or state agency wanting to provide official grain inspection and weighing services in the Fargo, North Dakota area, you can apply between August 1, 2025 and August 31, 2025. The current designation for North Dakota Grain Inspection Service ends December 31, 2025, and a new designation in that area will occur no sooner than January 1, 2026.

Applicants must have a Login.gov account, a MyFGIS number, and access to FGISonline Delegations/Designations and Export Registrations (DDR) before applying and are encouraged to begin system authentication early. Public Comment Opportunity
AMS requests public comments on the quality of services provided by the two current official agencies; comments must be submitted through Regulations.gov and will be made publicly available, including the identity of commenters. Comments on the Evansville area are accepted March 1–31, 2025; comments on the Fargo area are accepted August 1–31, 2025.
Fargo Area Geographic Amendment
AMS amended the Fargo, North Dakota geographic description to include the area previously serviced by Detroit Grain Inspection Service after North Dakota Grain Inspection Service purchased Detroit Grain Inspection Service on August 1, 2024. That area is now part of the Fargo area offered for designation.
Designation Term Length Rule
Under the United States Grain Standards Act, designations may be awarded for no longer than five years but can be renewed according to the criteria and procedures in section 7(f) (7 U.S.C. 79(f)).
