You may lose access to SNICAS records

If you are the subject of a record in APHIS's SNICAS system, you may not be able to access certain records because APHIS has exempted the system from parts of the Privacy Act under 5 U.S.C. 552a(k)(2). The exemption covers Privacy Act subsections (c)(3); (d); (e)(1); (e)(4)(G), (H), and (I); and (f), and becomes effective on February 10, 2025; APHIS will decide whether a record may be accessed when it receives a request.

Commercial sites evaluated in SNICAS reports

APHIS uses the SNICAS system to generate reports that evaluate the risk status of commercial sites where regulated commodities are seized and to support legal and regulatory actions, scientific research, trade support, and program management. If you operate a commercial site where regulated commodities are seized, APHIS may have SNICAS reports about your site that are used for enforcement and program decisions.
