Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

You must use Forest Service bid forms

If you want to bid to buy timber from National Forests, you must use the Forest Service form chosen for the sale — there are six bid-form versions in three categories and you cannot submit a different format. To be considered for award of a timber or forest product contract, your bid form must be submitted. The notice says there are 1,824 respondents and a total of 118,018 burden hours for this collection.

Opportunity to comment by Feb 10, 2025

If you're involved in timber sales, you can submit written comments about this information collection by February 10, 2025 at www.reginfo.gov (look under "Currently under 30-day Review--Open for Public Comments"). This is your chance to tell the Forest Service and OMB if the forms are fair or too burdensome.

Collection supports minimum price and fair bidding

The Forest Service says this information collection is used to help ensure national forest timber is sold at not less than appraised value, that bidders meet specific criteria, and that anti-trust violations do not occur during bidding.
