TSA to Charge Airlines $19 for Crew Fast-Track Security Access

Published Date: 6/30/2026

Notice

Summary

Starting January 1, 2027, aircraft operators who want their crewmembers to skip long security lines at certain U.S. airports will pay a $19 yearly fee per employee to join the Crewmember Access Point program. This change affects airlines like Delta, American, and FedEx, making it easier and faster for their crews to get through security while helping TSA keep things safe. Operators will get clear instructions on how to sign up and pay the fee.

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.

Biometric Matching For Expedited Crew Access

At designated CMAP locations, TSA will take a digital photograph of crewmembers and compare it to photographs in Federal databases. If the biometric matches, the crewmember gets expedited access to sterile areas; if there is no match or the person is randomly selected for unpredictable screening, the crewmember will be sent to a regular passenger checkpoint.

$19 Per Crewmember Annual Fee

Starting January 1, 2027, aircraft operators that participate in the Crewmember Access Point (CMAP) program must pay a $19.00 fee per crewmember per year. TSA will invoice operators annually, operators must provide a tax identification number and billing contact, and failure to pay within 30 days of an invoice may lead to removal of crewmembers from the program.

Program Limited to Domestic Operators

The CMAP program is limited to domestic aircraft operators covered under 49 CFR part 1544 and is not available to foreign air carriers covered under 49 CFR part 1546. Foreign air carrier crewmembers therefore are not eligible for CMAP expedited access under this program.
