Pesticide Registration Maintenance Fee; Cancellation Order for Certain Pesticide Registrations

Published Date: 1/13/2025

Notice

Summary

The EPA is canceling certain pesticide product registrations starting January 13, 2025. This means some pesticides can no longer be sold or used unless they follow new rules. Farmers, pesticide companies, and anyone using these products should take note to avoid surprises and stay compliant.

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.

Certain Pesticide Registrations Canceled

The EPA issued a cancellation order effective January 13, 2025 that cancels the pesticide product registrations listed in tables 1 and 3 of this notice. After January 13, 2025, any sale, distribution, or use of the listed products is allowed only if it follows the specific terms of the cancellation order (including the order's existing stocks provisions).

Non-Payment Triggers Registration Cancellation

FIFRA requires registrants to pay an annual pesticide registration maintenance fee that is due by January 15 of each year. Registrations for which the maintenance fee was not paid (the 2024 maintenance fee is cited) were canceled by order effective January 13, 2025, and unpaid registrations are subject to cancellation without a hearing.

Fee Waiver Option for Minor Agricultural Uses

EPA may reduce or waive the annual registration maintenance fee for minor agricultural use pesticides when EPA determines the fee would likely cause a significant impact on the availability of the pesticide for that use.
