Venezuela TPS Extended Through Oct 2, 2026
If you are a national of Venezuela (or an individual with no nationality who last habitually resided in Venezuela) with current TPS, the Secretary is extending Venezuela's TPS designation for 18 months beginning April 3, 2025 and ending October 2, 2026. This extension allows existing TPS beneficiaries who timely re-register to remain in the United States and be authorized to work through October 2, 2026.
Automatic EAD Extension Through April 2, 2026
Certain Venezuela TPS-related Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) with a Category notation A12 or C19 and a 'Card Expires' date of September 10, 2025; April 2, 2025; March 10, 2024; or September 9, 2022 are automatically extended through April 2, 2026 and can be used as proof of employment authorization without further documentation.
Up to 540-Day Automatic EAD Extension If You File Now
If you file Form I-765 to renew your TPS-related EAD during the re-registration period (January 17, 2025 through September 10, 2025), your EAD may be automatically extended for up to 540 days from the 'Card Expires' date on the EAD, provided the application is properly filed under A12 or C19. No automatic extension will be valid past October 2, 2026.
New EADs Will Be Issued Through Oct 2, 2026
USCIS will issue new Employment Authorization Documents that expire October 2, 2026 to eligible Venezuela TPS beneficiaries who timely re-register and apply for EADs; beneficiaries with pending Form I-765 as of January 17, 2025 do not need to refile and, if approved, will receive an EAD valid through October 2, 2026.
Re-registration Required Jan 17–Sep 10, 2025
Existing Venezuela TPS beneficiaries who want to keep TPS through October 2, 2026 must re-register during the re-registration period that runs from January 17, 2025 through September 10, 2025. When re-registering you do not need to pay the Form I-821 application fee but you must pay the biometric services fee unless you request a fee waiver.
Pending TPS Applications Need Not Be Refiled
If you had a Venezuela TPS Form I-821 or a TPS-related Form I-765 that was still pending with USCIS as of January 17, 2025, you do not need to file the application again; if USCIS approves the pending application, TPS or an EAD will be granted through October 2, 2026.
Scope: About 607,000 Beneficiaries Eligible
DHS states there are approximately 607,000 current Venezuelan TPS beneficiaries who are eligible to re-register for TPS under this extension.
