Mandatory engine flameout testing
If you own or operate a Safran Model ARRIUS 2B2 engine, the FAA proposes you must perform initial and repetitive non‑extinguishing tests for engine flameout to check for clogging of the preference injector caused by fuel coking. This testing requirement applies to all ARRIUS 2B2 engines under the proposed airworthiness directive.
One-time EECU software upgrade
The proposed AD would require a one-time modification: a software upgrade of the electronic engine control unit (EECU) on Safran ARRIUS 2B2 engines. All ARRIUS 2B2 engine owners/operators subject to the AD would need to install this EECU software update.
Preference injector replacement rules
Under the proposed AD, operators must replace the preference injector if testing shows it is clogged, and certain engines will require repetitive replacements of the preference injector as specified in the referenced EASA AD.
