Carriers Can Voluntarily Use TVS
If you are a commercial air or sea carrier, CBP renewed a voluntary test letting participating carriers use CBP’s Traveler Verification Service (TVS) to meet Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) identity-verification rules and help ensure manifest data is correct. Participating carriers can continue using this faster electronic facial-comparison process to perform the required identity checks instead of manual checks.
Travelers May Experience Faster Departures
You may experience faster departures if your commercial air or sea carrier participates in the renewed CBP Facial Comparison for APIS Compliance Test, because participating carriers use TVS facial comparison instead of manual data and identity verification. The notice says this process has the potential to expedite the departure process compared to manual checks.
