Hagerstown IFR navigation update

If you are a pilot flying under instrument flight rules (IFR) near Hagerstown, MD, the FAA proposes changing the airspace legal description to replace the St. Thomas VORTAC reference with St. Thomas TACAN because the VOR portion was decommissioned on November 30, 2023. The proposal amends Class E airspace extending upward from 700 feet above the surface and lists specific geometry including a 6.6-mile radius of Hagerstown Regional Airport, 3.1 miles each side of specified VOR radials, and 4.4 miles each side of specified localizer/TACAN courses; the FAA states this supports safety and management of IFR operations and will not cost anyone extra. Comments are due May 29, 2025.
