Repetitive Visual Inspections Required
If you own or operate GE Aviation Czech Model M601D-11, M601E-11, M601E-11A, M601E-11AS, M601E-11S, or M601F engines, the FAA proposes a new rule requiring repetitive detailed visual inspections (DVI) of the compressor case pad welds for any crack. This proposed AD would supersede AD 2024-06-02 and incorporate by reference a related EASA AD that specifies the repetitive inspection requirements.
Compressor Case Replacement If Cracked
The proposed rule requires you to replace the centrifugal compressor case if a DVI finds any crack in the compressor case pad weld area on the listed M601 engine models. The requirement to replace the compressor case is part of the FAA’s proposed superseding AD to address the unsafe condition identified in AD 2024-06-02.
Inspection Results Must Be Sent to Manufacturer
Under the proposed AD you must send certain inspection results from the compressor case pad weld DVIs to the manufacturer as specified in the incorporated EASA AD. The FAA proposes this reporting requirement as part of the rule that supersedes AD 2024-06-02.
