If you or your company pay customs duties late during the quarter beginning October 1, 2025, the IRS interest rate on underpayments is 7 percent for both corporations and non‑corporations. That means overdue customs duty balances will accrue interest at 7% until they are paid.
Refund Interest: 7% Individuals, 6% Corporations
If you or your company are due a customs duty refund in the quarter beginning October 1, 2025, the IRS will pay interest on the refund: 7 percent for non‑corporations (individuals) and 6 percent for corporations. That interest is added to the refund amount until Customs issues the payment.

Current CBP regulations require each traveler to provide a CBP officer with an oral or written declaration of all articles brought into the United States. The Air Declaration Zone Test streamlines the processing of travelers who enter the United States at air ports of entry by allowing a demonstrative initial declaration to separate travelers who do not have items to declare from those who have items to declare and, in some cases, replace the provision of oral or written declarations.
