SSA may share records with Treasury

If you have Social Security records, the Social Security Administration will be allowed to disclose your information to the U.S. Department of the Treasury to review payment and award eligibility through the Do Not Pay Working System for identifying, preventing, or recouping improper payments. This change is applicable upon publication on November 25, 2025, but the new routine use to share data with Treasury is effective December 26, 2025. The agency says the public may comment through December 26, 2025 and that no new costs or delays are expected.
