Pipeline Replacement in KY and OH
Columbia Gas will retire about 50 miles of pipeline and build about 31 miles of new pipeline in Kentucky and Ohio as part of the NKY Gate Enhancement Project. The company estimates the total cost at $429,000,000 and says the work is to reduce safety and reliability risks and meet federal and state rules.
Clean Water Act Section 401 Certification Needed
Columbia stated the project requires a water quality certificate under Section 401 of the Clean Water Act from the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet--Department of Environmental Protection. Columbia must submit the request date and either the certifying agency's decision or evidence of waiver to FERC.
Public Can Comment and Intervene
Any person may file comments, protests, or a motion to intervene in this FERC proceeding at no cost. The deadline to file a motion to intervene or comments is 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on December 15, 2025.
Environmental Review Timing and 90-Day Deadline
FERC staff will, within 90 days of this notice, either complete the environmental review and place it in the public record or issue a Notice of Schedule for Environmental Review. If an environmental assessment (EA) or final environmental impact statement (FEIS) is issued, federal authorizations must be completed within 90 days of that issuance.
